FAQs

What is art therapy?

Art therapy is using art as a tool for clearer understanding of yourself and the world around you. Creating art in art therapy is like looking into an x-ray machine. You can see clearly, visibly, and tangibly through your art everything that is going on within. Art is a portal into the soul. What has been going on inside you for years, decades, weeks, or months is now made visible through your art. This brings self-awareness. Self-awareness is the birthplace for healing.

What if I’m not an artist?

Art therapy is for any skillset. Stick figures, shapes, and no skill is allowed. All are welcome in this space.

What is required to call myself an art therapist?

To use the title art therapist or to refer to work with clients as art therapy, one must hold a Master’s degree in Art Therapy. An individual with an ATR (Registered Art Therapist) or ATR-BC (Board Certified Art Therapist) credential has completed 1,000 to 1,500 hours of direct client art therapy work and 100 to 150 hours of supervision, all post-graduate.

Holding an ATR indicates national recognition by the Art Therapy Credentials Board (ATCB) as a registered art therapist in the United States. An ATR-BC designation signifies that the individual is both a nationally recognized registered art therapist and has passed a board certification exam in art therapy.

Why are your group sessions so cheap?

Group sessions are at a cheaper price because I was a student of 10+ years and understand how tight ones budget can be. I want to help you guys out and make art therapy accessible to all, especially you military folks, as I know you guys enjoy a good discount.

What if I signed up for a group, but I am going to miss a session. Is there a refund?

Refunds are only given with a 24 hour notice. Please email or text me that you are unable to meet online 24 hours prior.

I accidentally signed up?

No refunds are given at this time.
